Updates and Changes For Ultimate Reality!


Intro

Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing well during this time of uncertainty due to the pandemic. Please stay safe and please take caution! With that out of the way, I want to start this weekly series where I will be posting weekly vlog updaes relating to the development of Ultimate Reality. Starting off this week, I want to share the upcoming Steam Early access and the final update that the Demo will be getting.

Visible Tiles

After a lot of complaints dealing with the interactable platforms, I decided to change the color of these platforms, making them more visible and appealing to the eye. The color I chose was a dark green that still fitted with the overall aesthetic of the "cyberpunk" city. I am still experimenting with these colors and any feedback is appreciated.

Intro Level

I thought that levels felt empty without any "introduction to them". I added a sort of visual cue that shows the current suit equipped and also the name of the level. The name of the level ties in with what is happening in the specific level and should add guidance for the game.

Pause Menu

The pause menu used to be a very simple menu, and although it was practical, I felt that it took away the essence of the whole "high tech" view of the UI for the game. Due to this, I have made a very appealing pause menu that should keep the UI aesthetic of the game going.

Mini Map

Many users complained that there wasn't really a sense of direction in the game and that they would love to have a visual map that could show them what was infront or behind them. I have added a mini map that shows current objectives and where any enemy is. This should be used as a quick reference and allow for a more "planned attack". I am still experimenting with the minimap and it could be placed in the pause menu if it is too intrusive while using in game.

Cyber City Complete

One more level has been added to the cyber city. This level is heavlity focused on traversal and figuring out the path. It should be a very fun and very hard level to get through but should provide fun and a closure for this specific map. Our hero will be going to another place in the multiverse after this map!

Early Access

Early access for Ultimate Reality will periodically add a new map to the game. Each new map will tell more of the story and add more gameplay variety to the game. Each new map will approxiamtely take 1.5 - 2 months to complete!
